This kit bundles approximately $130 worth of items and packs them in a nice sturdy case. If the full array of items really suits you, then it is probably a "4 star" purchase.
Packaged together as a kit, it looks like a nice gift for a friend/family or oneself, for a beginner to start the journey into knife sharpening. Unfortunately, I think this exact kit is not going to suit the majority of beginners. If your knives are NOT in at least pretty good condition, starting with a 1000 grit stone is ridiculous. It will take too long, and result in frustration.
Yes, this is a reasonable kit for MAINTAINING knives that have never been neglected or sharpened incorrectly.
For a gift to a beginner, this kit is okay, but it should be supplemented with another stone of 400 grit or less. There are nice double side diamond stones with 220/600 grit for $50 or so.
For me personally, I give it "3 stars". It was a pleasing to the eye gift to myself than brought me some enthusiasm for trying out hand sharpening. But my initial sharpening attempts failed, and I had to find some other stones to work with and master the basics with, first. I do sometimes use the 5000 grit side of the stone for a final polish before stropping -- it has a pretty nice feel. And I really like the strop. Most of the other items are of marginal value to me.

Well organized & durable case. Sharpening stone is a functional size with 2 excellent grits. I like the size of the strope block and the green compound is just perfect for a fine edge finished with the leather side. The supplied cloth is large enough to be very functional and is of quality material.
Did not find the angle guide useful. Will likely not use the gloves. I have sharpened 3 knives thus far with EXCELLENT results, but I’m also familiar with this process of sharpening so experience helps. Very good product!
